Getting started
This page helps hosted users get ready, sign in, and start their first import.
Prerequisites
Before you begin, make sure you have:
- A Microsoft 365 work or school account.
- Access to Microsoft Planner in your tenant.
- Membership in at least one Microsoft 365 group or team that can host a plan.
- A CSV file (or draft) ready for import.
Open the hosted app
Use the hosted app URL:
If your organisation uses a custom entry link, use the link supplied by your administrator.
Sign-in and consent expectations
When you open the app, you are asked to sign in with Microsoft.
You may also see a consent prompt. This allows the app to:
- Read your group and plan context so you can choose where to import.
- Create or update planner tasks as part of your confirmed import.
If your tenant requires administrator approval, you may be blocked until an administrator grants consent.
If you see a tenant-specific sign-in error before you reach the app, contact your administrator or the service operator. Shared hosted access should use a work or school multitenant sign-in path, while self-hosted deployments should use your organisation’s own tenant-specific setup.
For administrators
If your organisation is preparing first-time access to the hosted service, make sure:
- users sign in with work or school accounts
- the hosted app registration is approved according to your tenant’s consent policy
- any required administrator consent is completed before wider rollout
Your first run path
- Select a group.
- Enter or select a plan name.
- Upload your CSV file.
- Review validation and preview results.
- Confirm execution.
- Review the final report.
Next step: continue to CSV format if you still need to prepare your file.
Self-hosted users
If you are running your own deployment, use the separate Self-hosted guide.
